New Solutions to Old Challenges: Safe Catalytic Diazo Chemistry and Selective Wacker-Type Oxidations of Alkenes"

Homogenous catalytic reactions are powerful tools for the sustainable preparation of important synthetic intermediates with applications across the molecular sciences. This presentation will first describe the development of safe and efficient catalytic carbene-transfer reactions using in situ generated diazo compounds. These transformations produce unique building blocks of interest to the drug discovery process. In the second half of the talk, the discovery of an efficient regioselective palladium-catalyzed oxidation of internal alkenes will be described.
