Strategic Applications of Chemical Theory and Computations to Organic Synthesis and Material Science

The Cheong group applies and develops state-of-the-art computational tools to discover and explain fundamental and practical principles that underlie organic synthesis and material science. In this seminar, our latest discoveries in new mechanistic themes in organic reactions will be disclosed, including duumvirate stereocontrol, traceless dual-catalysis, and role of conjugation in stereocontrol. In addition, an expedient & universal group additivity method to predict metal hydroxide cluster stabilities & electronic properties will also be revealed.
