Research Interests

Bottomley's research interests are in biological applications of scanning probe microscopy, surface enhanced Raman scattering, and electroanalytical chemistry. Current projects include:

  • Force Spectroscopy of Biopolymers: Correlating Molecular Structure with Single Molecule Elasticity
  • Chemical Force Microscopy using Carbon Nanotubes and Nanocoils
  • Surface Enhanced Raman Scattering of Nucleic Acid Hybridization
  • Theory and Application of Cyclic Square Wave Voltammetry
