Graduate Financial Support

The School of Chemistry and Biochemistry administers a number of awards for beginning and advanced graduate students. The Institute's Presidential Fellowship, Cherry Emerson Fellowship, and Dean's Professional Development Grants are awarded to outstanding new graduate students. All applicants for the program are considered for these awards.

Department of Educational Graduate Assistantships in Areas of National Needs (GAANN) awards are available in Chemistry and Biochemistry, and in Polymer Science and Engineering. Fellowship recipients must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents, and enrolled in the Ph.D. program. The fellowship consists of an award of up to $28,000 (but which may not exceed the student’s level of financial need determined according to federal guidelines), and includes a supervised teaching experience. Students who are interested in this program should contact Dr. Cam Tyson and must complete the FAFSA.

House-Ashby-Flashka Awards are presented to outstanding advanced graduate students. In addition, the Georgia Tech chapter of Sigma Xi awards an Outstanding Thesis Award each year. The Georgia Regents' Opportunity Award is available to state residents, based on achievement and financial need. The Facilitating Academic Careers in Engineering and Science (FACES) Fellowships are offered to outstanding graduate students planning to pursue an academic career.

The School provides strong support for students interested in applying for nationally competitive awards. In addition, Georgia Tech's Office of Financial Aid provides resources for students applying for external fellowships.
