Bill Needle is currently the head of the intellectual property department of Ballard and Spahr LLP. He is also an adjunct law professor at Emory (since ’83) and Georgia State University (since ’90). He received a B.S. degree in chemistry from Georgia Tech in 1967 and a J.D. from Emory University in 1979. He has practiced intellectual property law exclusively for 40 years and founded the IP law firm Needle & Rosenberg. In 2008, after 25 years, Needle & Rosenberg merged into Ballard Spahr.
