Polymer Chemistry
Research in polymer chemistry covers a broad set of initiatives, from the synthesis of new monomers to the development of new theories for polymerization dynamics. Materials of interest include polymers for microelectronics, packaging, fibers, membranes, and electro–optical devices. Researchers make use of instrumentation available in the Polymer Education and Research Center, which includes facilities for solid–state nuclear magnetic resonance, thermal analysis, gel permeation chromatography, and X–ray diffraction. The research is highly collaborative, with close ties to other academic laboratories and with industrial partners.
