Notes

1: FREE ELECTIVES (13 hours required)

GT 1000 (1 credit) is recommended and is a free elective.

2: CORE ELECTIVES (23 hours required)
Note that most core electives are 3 hours with the exception of HPS 1040. Within the core electives both the US Perspective and Global Perspective requirements must be satisfied.

  1. HPS 1040 (2)
  2. CS 1301, 1315, or 1371 (3)
  3. Humanities electives (6 hours required)
  4. Social Science electives (9 hours required)
  5. History/constitution requirement (3 hours required): HIST 2111, HIST 2112, PUBP 3000, INTA 1200, or POL 1101. (Credit not allowed for both INTA 1200 and POL 1101)

3: POLYMER ELECTIVES
The Polymer Elective may be fulfilled by Polymer Courses in Science and Engineering at the 3000 level or higher. We note that the Chem 4775 and 4776, Polymer Science and Engineering I and II are co-listed with CHE, TFE, MSE and ME.

4: CHEMISTRY ELECTIVES
CHEM 4311, 4341, 4401, 4452, 4511, 4512, 4521, 4581, 4582, 4601, 4740, 4760, 4775, 4776, 4803, 4804. Note: CHEM 3511 is not allowed with CHEM 4511 or 4512.

5: CORE CHEMISTRY LABORATIORIES
The Core Chemistry Lab requirements are fulfilled with

    1. CHEM 3380 (3), and
    2. CHEM 3481 (2), and
    3. Research Experience: Either Undergraduate Research CHEM 4699 (3) OR Undergraduate Internship CHEM 4695 (3). If either internal or external research (CHEM 4698 or CHEM 4694) is conducted for pay rather than credit, any additional free elective (3) may be substituted to achieve the required earned hours to graduate. The research experience must include a comprehensive laboratory report.

            Pre-req note:

      • CHEM 3481 pre-reqs are CHEM 2380, 3411 and (3412 with concurrency)
      • CHEM 3380 pre-reqs are CHEM 2380 and (3111 with concurrency)
      • CHEM 3211 pre-reqs are CHEM 2211, 2380 and PHYS II
      • CHEM 4694/4695/4698/4699 pre-reqs are dependent upon research organization

6: CHEM 2211 can be deferred until the spring semester of the sophomore year.
