The Ph.D. program in chemistry requires that students complete a series of courses in a field of specialization, participate in a series of seminar courses, complete a coursework minor, pass a series of examinations based on current chemical literature, pass a Ph.D. candidacy examination, and defend a thesis describing their original research.
